Lake District Accommodation began back in July 2014 as a small, friendly Facebook group created to help a handful of local businesses — including a B&B run by the founder’s sister — fill last-minute vacancies affordably.
What started as a simple idea has grown into the largest Facebook community dedicated to all kinds of Lake District holiday accommodation, trusted by tens of thousands of visitors and over 50,000 members who use it to find genuine places to stay, last-minute offers, and hidden gems across Cumbria.
Built on fairness, trust, and the local spirit
For over 10 years, the group has connected visitors with real, independent hosts — people who know their area, care about their guests, and want to offer something personal and authentic.
Our mission has always stayed the same:
